Post Vacation Work

My apologies for a lapse in posts....This morning around 11:00 am we drove in from our all night drive from Orlando.

Driving all night has it's benefits: the kids sleep.......the kids sleep.... and, well that's about it. But, it's a loud wakeup call that I am not 22 anymore! It's hard staying that awake, making sure you aren't driving off the road!

The boys had a great time swimming where we stayed. Unlike most people there, we did not go the Parks this year because we just didn't feel our boys were old enough to handle the intense heat and enjoy it at the same time. Next year we'll tackle it.

I loved watching them swim. My youngest, Christian (just turned 3), swam with a vest by himself for the first time. He was VERY proud of himself! I feel very fortunate to have been able to spend time with them last week.

I am reviewing the service for Journey tomorrow, and looking forward to seeing all of the people. We are continuing our series "Bad Boys" and talking about how to maintain character and never conform. See you later

Travelin' Man

Last week I had several meetings in Virginia Beach, and consequently was not close to a computer. Unfortunetely, I did not have any "beach time" to speak of.

Tomorrow we are driving down to Florida for week with the boys. Unlike the crowds, we like to find a house that can be rented for the week (preferable with a pools!) So, we found one and we are looking forward to cooling off. My oldest son has become quite the waterbug, so it will be fun watching him swim.

Several people commented how they loved the Bike being ridden up the platform for "Bad Boys" - our current series. To be honest with you, I just learned how to ride last month! To the dread of my wife, I actually liked how it felt going down the road with the wind whipping around. I never saw myself as a "Harley" type of guy, but stranger things have happened!

I will be back 1st week of July. God's best.

Evan Almighty

Tonight I am going to an advanced screening of the upcoming movie "Evan Almighty" It's kind of a sequel to Bruce Almighty that came out a few years with Jim Carey. Apparently in this movie, the newscaster who was in the first movie is directed by God to build a modern day Ark.

Some of you may ask "Why did you get to go to an advanced screening?" Well, some Christian marketing company is creating a tie-in with the movie, encouraging churches to use the positive themes of the movie as a way to spur community outreach and acts of kindness. I received an email from this company and responded. So.....should be interesting!

I makes me ask the question....what would I do if God called me to do something so daring and unusual as "build an ark"??

Wait a minute.....He DID call me to start a church.....that's a little crazy isn't it??

Well anyway - the point is that for followers of Christ, don't be surprised when God calls us to do some daring things. I beginning to think that for any Christ-follower, this should be the norm and not the exception. It's not IF God calls, but WHEN. Some I know I have gone overseas to help spread the message of Christ. Others have adopted children in need, given alot of money to missions, started business and corporations to become an influencer for God.

Pretty radical stuff.

So, maybe building an ARK isn't so unusual after all. They just come in different shapes and sizes.
